Brief Summary

I drive for Instacart, so I'm always watching for good deals on quality ingredients. When I found two pounds of Angus burgers marked down about 60%, I didn't just see dinner—I saw several future meals.

By mixing the beef with my noaddedsaltguy breadcrumb blend, portioning the burgers, freezing them overnight, and vacuum sealing them, I turned one great sale into seven ready-to-cook meals.

That's the way I shop. I don't shop with a recipe in mind. I shop for opportunities.

Ingredients

Makes 6 large burgers and 1 small burger

Instructions

  1. Place the Angus ground chuck into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the noaddedsaltguy Breadcrumb Blend and olive oil.
  3. Mix gently with your hands until everything is evenly combined.
  4. Form six burgers weighing approximately 5½ ounces each, plus one smaller 3-ounce burger.
  5. Place the burgers on a tray and freeze overnight until firm.
  6. Vacuum seal each burger individually, label with the contents and date, and return them to the freezer.
  7. When you're ready for a meal, remove one burger and cook it in a skillet to your preferred doneness.
  8. Serve on a low-carb bun with lettuce and pickles.

Estimated Sodium

Approximately 175–250 mg per serving, depending on the bun and pickles you choose.

What Makes This Work

This recipe isn't really about burgers.

It's about having a system.

Instead of shopping for one specific recipe, I look for quality ingredients when they're on sale—usually fresh meat rather than processed foods—and then ask myself one question:

"How can I turn this into healthy, low-salt meals?"

Because I already keep my breadcrumb blend prepared in the freezer, the work is simple. A few minutes of mixing and portioning gives me seven ready-to-cook burgers that are waiting whenever I need them.

The breadcrumb blend helps retain moisture and adds flavor with herbs, garlic, rosemary, and black pepper instead of relying on added salt. Vacuum sealing keeps the burgers fresh, and portioning them ahead of time makes dinner almost effortless.

I served mine on a low-carb bun with lettuce and pickles. That's my preference because I try to limit refined carbohydrates while still enjoying meals that feel familiar and satisfying.

This is the noaddedsaltguy method in action.

Using the ingredients within the meal to season the meal—and using preparation to make healthy cooking easier.
